The Internet is a worldwide system of interconnected computer networks that use the TCP/IP set of network protocols to reach billions of users.Internet was invented in 1958 when The United States government creates the Advanced Research Projects Agency known as “ARPA”, which is later responsible for ARPANet and the Internet. The first message was sent over the ARPANET in 1969 from computer science Professor Leonard Kleinrock's laboratory at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to the second network node at Stanford Research Institute (SRI).

The original ARPANET grew into the Internet. Internet was based on the idea that there would be multiple independent networks of rather arbitrary design, beginning with the ARPANET as the pioneering packet switching network, but soon to include packet satellite networks, ground-based packet radio networks and other networks. in the late 1980s, ARPANET was interlinked with NSFNET. For Indonesia itself, the internet was first at the University of Indonesia in 1988. Access to connect to the internet when it was still difficult and the costs required to be connected to the internet is very expensive, as it is seldom known by the public internet. New technology used at that time to provide a connection to the internet has not managed optimally.

The Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Indonesia was established in 1994 and then internet began to be known by the public.In 1995 internet user in Indonesia was grown to 16 milions and still grow to 1018 millions in 2005. Internet still expand because many people was using their cellphone to acces internet.however in the 2013 internet user Indonesia was reach 2800 milions user and still grow.
